The guide
Lisbon is a city of thresholds — you are always about to arrive somewhere. We keep two places on the eastern hills, where the tram noise thins out after ten and the Tagus turns pewter at dusk. Both are a short walk from a bakery that has been arguing about custard tarts since 1937.
